Count Your Blessings

"Count Your Blessings" is a phrase my grandma said often, and before she got sick i never knew what she meant. Being in the hospital with her and my family for days and sometimes months at a time taught me. Things that we often take for granted are what we should be calling blessings. I thank god everyday that i had the time that i did with her, even though i gave up fun things like hanging out with friends and going to the racetrack to watch my cousins race, which are things that i love. I never knew that spending time with her would today mean so much to me. I often hear my friends and classmates talk about a family member or friend or other classmate they don't like and sometimes say hate and i now i sit there and think to myself how lucky they are to have them in their lives no matter how messed up the person is because i lost my grandma in August and i used to think some of the same things as they did but now i just think how lucky i was to have someone like her in my life. I have learned in the past year to love the people in your life because you never know when they might not be their.

The 411

This is the 411 on my life, I was born on Mother's Day 1992, and my parents named me Adrianne. Since then i have had my fare share of the good and bad times. When I was around eleven or twelve my parents got a divorce and my mom, sister, and I moved in with my grandma. A little later we moved into a townhouse where we lived for 7 years.

All my life i have always loved music and have been in the church choir ever since i could talk. In 5th grade i had the choice of joining the school band and thought why not i will give it a try if my sister could do it so could I. And so i joined the band playing the Alto Saxophone and have been playing it ever since. In 8th grade I had to make another choice weather to keep band on my schedule for my High School years or not and so I decided to go ahead and not continue band. But then one day the High School band director pulled me into his office and said that he had noticed that I hadn't put band on my schedule for the next 4 years and asked me why and so I told him that I wasn't so sure about marching band because my memory was not that great and it was really hard work. And so after a half hour in his office he had convinced me to change my schedule and add band. So I added band and had a blast. In 9th grade I played my Saxophone through marching band and concert band, in that year the whole band went on a trip to compete in a competition in Washington DC. In that competition we took first place and I about cried, I was so happy that I had stuck with band. The end of 9th grade came around and the band director asked for anyone who wanted to join the drumline to go in the hallway and so one of my friends and I figured what the heck we have nothing to loose and went in the hallway. And since that day i have been playing the bass drum in the marching band drumline.

In the fall I will be starting my senior year, and I could not be more excited. Most people know what they want to do when they enter their senior year, I however do not. I will apply for scholarships and apply to colleges throughout the summer which I figure is a good enough start for me.
